Travel to Bloomington is easy!

BY AIR...

We recommend that you fly into the Indianapolis International Airport which is about 55 miles north of Bloomington. Every major domestic airline schedules flights in and out of this international terminal.

We have established a relationship with the local office of Carlson WagonLit Travel (CWT) to simplify your travel arrangements to the Workshop. The workshop will pay the cost of a coach ticket at a reduced rate that requires a Saturday night stay over.

One call to CWT at: 1-800-467-7800 is all it takes to arrange for a ticket at the lowest fare to Indianapolis from your point of origin. In addition, they will reserve shuttle service to Bloomington from the Indianapolis airport at the appropriate time, as part of their passenger ticketing service. Please arrange for shuttle service at the same time you call CWT for your air ticket so that we can receive a discount on this service.

Plan to use Bloomington Shuttle Service if you arrive during their service hours; request limo service if you arrive after hours.

CWT will include directions, departure time, and other relevant information in the itinerary that accompanies your ticket. CWT promises a 24 hour turn response time on ticket requests; provide them with an e-mail address, fax or telephone number. Your ticket will be delivered to your home address by second day air carrier.

NOTES: IU's financial processing system requires you to provide your Social Security number to receive shuttle service, air tickets or travel reimbursements.

GROUND TRANSPORTATION

To reach ground transportation, exit the airport terminal through the doors opposite baggage claim carousel number two (2). You will cross several lanes of traffic before arriving at the parking structure. To your right, you will find a blue, steel and glass structure called the Ground Transportation Center. Several limousine services, shuttle services, and taxi services have information booths located inside. Locate the booth for your transportation carrier and identify yourself to the available agent.

Shuttle schedules

The drive to Bloomington is about one hour by car or limo; it can be longer by a shuttle bus or van which make stops at several Bloomington hotels.

TIME

Bloomington does not participate in Daylight Savings Time. We use Eastern Standard Time year round. In November, we'll be on Eastern Standard Time (e.g. NY time).

E-MAIL ACCESS

Public access machines for e-mail messages are available in many campus buildings, including the mezzanine level of the IMU. To access e-mail, you must know the Internet address for your e-mail server. This may be a longer address than you are accustomed to using at your home institution. You should confirm the address before coming to the workshop.

We are considering providing email access in our main conference work room. If you need some kind of reliable email access during the workshop, please let us know.

REGISTRATION

Your registration for this workshop includes transportation and housing as noted above. It also includes necessary travel and meal expenses to and from the workshop. These expenses are subject to university restraints, but will cover reasonable airport parking, taxi and meal expenses enroute. Save your receipts and make note of the hours/dates you leave and return to your home. We will give you travel reimbursement forms during the workshop. Participants from outside the U.S. must provide copies of their stamped entry visas and I-9 forms. We will be happy to assist with these copies during the workshop.

The meals included in the workshop begin with a dinner buffet Saturday, November 8 and conclude with lunch Tuesday, November 11.

An information packet will be waiting for you at the hotel desk.
